What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a system of letting go of negativity and building confidence around birth.

It is a specially designed and in-depth antenatal training programme which provides mothers and their birth partners with information and techniques on how to get the most out of the birthing experience and feel empowered in the choices that you make.

You will learn about routine procedures and how to find information, including alternatives, so that you and your partner can have confidence in making the right decisions for you and your baby.

You will also learn how to use relaxation techniques (this is the 'hypno' bit!) to alter your mindstate, allowing your nervous system to relax. This is great for both the body and the mind during labour to work in a calm and natural way.

The course does not promise a pain free birth, however does give us a deep understanding of how our minds influence our bodies, and how that is especially important during labour.

There is so much in society today (in the media, from other birth stories and even from health professionals!) telling us that childbirth is traumatic and something to be feared. With hypnobirthing, we are able to release that fear and make way for positivity, which settles the mind and the body, allowing for a more natural birth with fewer medications and interventions.

Our bodies are specifically and naturally designed to give birth to babies, and we can make the decisions needed to be able to birth in a way that is right for us. Letting go of fear, assumptions and preconceptions allows the body and mind to work the way nature intended.
